Jr. Leadership is a program for high school juniors that provides leadership and networking opportunities, exposes students to a broad spectrum of careers, develops a spirit of service, and offers a behind-the-scenes look at Jonesboro. The competitive application process is conducted by area high school counselors and the program is administered by members of the Chamber's Workforce Development Committee.

Applications are thoroughly reviewed according to the following selection criteria: commitment to personal growth, commitment and motivation to serve the community through volunteer work, commitment to favorably impacting the development and quality of the community, strength of recommendations, GPA of at least 3.0, and attendance history in school.

Sessions begin in August each year with a day-long retreat at Ridge Retreat & Adventure Center. Students participate in team building exercises and are led through their individual personality profiles by Jim Corter of Corter Consulting.  Session subjects include media, quality of life, city and county government, community service, economic development and local industry, healthcare and A-State.
