Symphonic Winds & Wind Ensemble Concert

The Symphonic Winds, conducted by Dr. Sarah Labovitz will perform a mixture of works from the wind band repertoire.  These include "Rise of the Silver City" by Rossano Galante, "A Childhood Hymn" by David Holsinger, "Tight Squeeze" by Alex Shapiro conducted by graduate conducting student Shawn Crawford, and "Satiric Dances" by Norman Dello Joio.

The Wind Ensemble, conducted by Dr. Timothy Oliver, will begin with a new work by Joseph Schwantner called "The Awakening Hour."  Then Dr. Labovitz will guest conduct a very emotional work called "Soulstrom" by Australian composer Jodie Blackshaw.  We will continue with "Dos Danzas" by Andrea Reinkemeyer, followed by "October" by Eric Whitacre conducted by graduate conducting student Pershauna Johnson.  The concert will conclude with a performance of Ron Nelson's powerful work "Epiphanies (Fanfares and Chorales)."

Tickets are $5.00 for the general public, and students are admitted free with their A-State ID.  Complimentary tickets for this concert are available to all music educators and their students.
