While we’ve heard plenty of stories about declines in housing markets around the nation, Jonesboro stands apart as markets in Craighead County have remained stable by comparison.
Why? Because the economy in the Jonesboro area is healthy and expanding.
Consider how well the housing market in Jonesboro has held up in 2008.
First of all, homes have held their value very well in Craighead County. Through August, the average price of a single family residence was $139,596, up 2.5 percent from $136,102 through the first eight months of 2007. In Arkansas, the average sale price fell 1.3 percent through August.
Second, the number of single-family residences sold in Arkansas was down 19.2 percent through August as compared to the first eight months of 2007. Almost all housing markets showed declines in sales through August and Jonesboro was no exception. However, the decline was considerably less in Jonesboro – 7.3 percent down from the first eight months of 2007. |
