Tek Starz - Jonesboro's Summer Manufacturing Camp

Tek Starz, Jonesboro’s summer manufacturing camp, is the first camp of its kind in Arkansas.  Twelve junior high students were introduced to manufacturing through hands-on projects and activities, and tours of local manufacturing facilities.  The first annual Tek Starz camp, held June 9 – 13, 2014, was developed and facilitated by the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce and ASUN Jonesboro.  Jonesboro’s broad manufacturing base plays a vital role in the area’s thriving economy.  Tek Starz helps to ensure the future success of manufacturing in Jonesboro by developing a well-qualified upcoming workforce.  Local industry provided generous support to Tek Starz; in particular, Best Manufacturing, Inc. and Hytrol Conveyor Company, Inc. supplied the design, instruction and materials for the Tek Starz campers to build projects.  Special thanks also to Camfil APC and Nice-Pak Products, Inc., as well as to the Workforce Training Consortium and Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs, the Foundation of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, Intl., and many others.
