Chamber Announcement
73 participants from Jonesboro and the surrounding area will be attending the 2007 Washington D.C. Fly-In to be held February 24 - 28 in our nation's capital.
The Chamber delegation will visit with Senator Blanche Lincoln, Senator Mark Pryor and Congressman Marion Berry and their staffs to update them on priority issues important to the region. The Chamber delegation will also thank them for progress made on projects and completion of projects.
Issues to be addressed this year are: I-555 Floodway Issues, Highway 226 Connector, ASU Overpass and Lake Bono. The priority issues for 2007 will be given at five separate meetings. The first is scheduled for Monday morning with Senator Pryor's staff for breakfast, followed by a luncheon with Senator Pryor. The day concludes with an evening reception for Senator Lincoln's staff. A breakfast event will also be held for Senator Lincoln on Tuesday morning. The D.C. Fly-In will conclude Tuesday night when Congressman Berry and his staff join the delegation for a reception.
For the third year, the Agri-Business Committee will sponsor three ASU students from the College of Agriculture on the trip as a way to emphasize the importance of agriculture to the region.
Sponsors for this year's trip include: Hummelstein Iron & Metal, St. Bernards Medical Center, PepsiCo, Riceland, NEA Health Systems, Nestle', Ritter Communications, Liberty Bank of Arkansas, ASU, Burrow-Halsey Realty Group and Jonesboro Surgical Associates.
